Osborne Clarke advises Ubiquisys on $19M funding to meet demand for data usage hotspots

15 Aug 2012

Osborne Clarke has advised Ubiquisys, the developer of 3G and LTE intelligent small cells, on a $19m fundraising round from new investors Mobile Internet Capital and Nissay Capital. Existing investors including 5CCG/Sallfort Privatbank AG, Accel Partners, Advent Venture Partners, Atlas Venture and Yasuda also took part.

Ubiquisys will use the capital to generate further profitable growth and accelerate delivery of innovative tri-mode 3G/LTE/WiFi small cell hotspots, designed to increase capacity for mobile data usage.  The company is building on its leadership position in residential and enterprise femtocells, where its adaptive radio technology has underpinned successful high volume deployments across the world.

Robert Wood, corporate partner, Osborne Clarke, said:

“Ubiquisys is a longstanding client, enjoying well-deserved success in its field. The fact that this funding round was oversubscribed speaks volumes about Ubiquisys’ businesses and its standing in the market. It was a pleasure to work with them again.”

Fraser Park, CFO, Ubiquisys, said:

“With so many investors, this funding round had a lot of moving parts. Osborne Clarke combined excellent technical knowledge with a willingness to go beyond the call of duty. The team was superb at keeping to deadlines, even when on occasion, those deadlines were entirely unreasonable. We are delighted with the result.”

The Osborne Clarke team advising Ubiquisys was led by corporate partner Robert Wood, assisted by solicitor Caroline Drummond.
