Osborne Clarke (OC) has advised Babcock Marine (Babcock) on a £55 million contract to supply the Ministry of Defence (MOD) with nearly 200 front line vehicles.
The contract will see the MOD take delivery of 110 Jackal 2 armoured cars and 70 Coyote Tactical Support Vehicles for use in Afghanistan.
The Jackal 2 vehicles will offer greater protection than the current generation of Jackal vehicles.
Babcock will work with Supacat. Supacat will be prime contractor to MOD and will be responsible for design, development, prototyping, integration and overall programme management. Babcock will be responsible for production planning, purchasing and manufacture at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
The vehicles will be delivered to the MOD from summer 2009 onwards.
OC's advice follows a £560 million contract for dockyard services on which the firm also advised Babcock.
Julia Wood, the Projects partner who led the OC team commented:
"We were delighted to advise Babcock on another highly important defence deal that will increase protection for troops on front line operations."
The OC team was led by Projects partner Julia Wood and included partner Omar Al-Nuaimi and associate Leanne Coates with Anna Woodward and Stuart Rau. Tax advice was provided by partner Erika Jupe.
