Richard is a partner in the Energy and Infrastructure team. He has over 20 years experience and advises on major energy, natural resource and infrastructure projects in the UK and worldwide. His experience covers power, oil & gas, nuclear, renewables, water, transport, mining, waste and other PPP/PFI projects. In particular, Richard is well known for his advice on major water and sewerage projects having advised the World Bank on the World Bank Water and Sanitation Toolkit: the manual on private sector participation in water and sewerage projects worldwide.
His clients include sponsors, developers, infrastructure funds, utilities, contractors, banks, pension funds, multilaterals, public sector bodies and regulators.
He was a named legal expert in the Energy and Natural Resources sector in the Legal 500 in each year from 1997 to 2007 and described in the Legal 500 as having a "stellar reputation in the sector". Chambers UK describes Richard as "dynamic" and "highly effective" and he is ranked as a "first tier leader" in Chambers UK. His team has won a number of awards for work on infrastructure projects including "Consultancy Firm of the Year".
Richard is also Vice President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East of the International Private Water Association, a member
of the legal and commercial group of the Nuclear Industry Association and a member of the Project Finance Law Sub-committee
of the International Bar Association.
