Colin has been qualified as a commercial property lawyer for over twenty years and has wide-ranging experience in all aspects
of commercial property, ranging from industrial, retail, office and residential developments to monitoring (on a worldwide
basis) the property issues of corporate transactions. He is considered by his clients to bring a commercial approach to the
table, working with them and the other side to achieve the required result both swiftly and efficiently.
Colin has been - and continues to be - instructed on a number of high profile development sites, one involving the development
of a new settlement at Elstow in Bedfordshire. Others range from the relocation of a school at Hove to provide a new retail
food store, to the proposed development of surplus industrial land for a variety of uses. He has also completed a number of
portfolio sales and leasebacks where the aggregate consideration has exceeded £60m, as well as acting on the acquisition of
several investment properties where the value has been in excess of £100m.
Colin has also continued to be involved in corporate transactions, providing the expertise on disposals and acquisitions where
the properties are located in England and Wales, and also monitoring the property issues in other jurisdictions.
Colin trained with Stoneham Langton & Passmore, qualifying in 1978 and becoming a Partner there in 1980. He joined McGuinness
Finch in its very early days in 1984 and in the next decade helped the firm to develop into one of the best-known niche property
firms in the country. He was also instrumental in bringing the expertise of the whole McGuinness Finch team to Osborne Clarke
in June 2001.
