divider
Osborne Clarke has an extensive arbitration practice. The majority of our arbitration cases are international. We have appeared in references seated in many varied jurisdictions and subject to the rules of all the major arbitral institutions - LCIA, ICC, AAA, etc. We have experience of many cases that are subject to foreign law, such as, recently, the laws of California and of Denmark. We also regularly conduct domestic arbitrations, particularly in relation to construction disputes.

In the past year, we have been particularly active in the technology and energy sectors, but we have experience of arbitrating all types of dispute. We have an unrivalled track record of representing the interests of US corporations in the UK and Europe.

Osborne Clarke is recommended for arbitration in the Legal 500 and practice head Adrian Lifely is described as "bright, affable and efficient". Adrian is a member of the LCIA (London Chamber of International Arbitration) and a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. Construction arbitration specialist John Redmond leads the construction team and is a Chartered Arbitrator and LCIA member. He is regularly appointed as an arbitrator, adjudicator or mediator.

Examples of our recent experience include:
  • representing Adobe Systems Inc in a complex ad hoc arbitration in London, regarding Adobe's Acrobat product range and font technology
  • appearing on behalf of a US medical products supplier in an arbitration in Berlin, Germany (distributorship dispute)
  • representing a listed US company in a London ad hoc arbitration regarding coverage under Directors & Officers liability insurance
